Condolence: Thank you to all of you for your condolences for the loss our parents, they are deeply appreciated.

Like my Mother, I have so many fond memories of my Father. When I was growing up, while we were out around town in Reno, my father would run into patients and the families of patients. They were so grateful to him for the medical care he provided and many thanked him for saving their eyes or the vision of their loved ones. It was very touching to see the positive impact he had on so many people through his work. I remember that he was one of the first doctors in Reno (if not the first) to perform laser retinal surgery. He was the President of the Washoe County Medical Society in the 70s.

But my fondest memories of my father were on Friday and Saturday nights when he would make popcorn and we would watch CREATURES FEATURES with Bob Wilkins on KTVU on cable. I will never forget the smell of freshly popped popcorn and late night monster movies with my Dad.

Rest in peace, Dad. Love, Dave

Condolence: David, Robert, James,

I offer my sympathy in the loss of both of your parents in such a short time. I believe I have only met Robert when he would be here to help with Grandma Martha. Martha was a very good friend of mine. My husband and I looked out for Martha and that is why your names are familiar to me. She loved you from afar.

I shared some words when your mother died that I have found helpful to me. Perhaps those are still available.

Again, I send my deepest sympathy and prayers for you.

Condolence: John Bryant has been part of my life since high school when he was dating my best friend, Shirley Faye. Our friendship continued through college. When Shirley graduated from Iowa State University, he called me and said, "Berta, the Home Economics Dept. at ISU just closed down. They awarded Shirley a degree in.....HOME ECONOMICS!!! We both had a good laugh as Shirley was such a fun and funny free spirit and not someone you thought of in the kitchen. John and Shirley, and our whole group, shared a special sense of humor with lots of good-natured bantering. Some might have called us sarcastic, but it was much fun and not mean spirited.

We kept in touch all through the years, and I could always call John for advice on my eyesight. He was a true friend and we saw them and their boys in California, and at their home in Reno with its beautiful mountain views. Also, on many trips to Iowa and also Door County. We always picked up immediately where we had left off. John was smitten with Shirley at an early age and once said to me that he had found a Cadillac. ( the prestige car of those years). I visited them at their apt, in Iowa City in
their first year of marriage and it was nice to see them so happy together. John was a very intelligent person, a good golfer and a good friend.

Gerard and I have been blessed to have both John and Shirley in our lives. We had so much fun over the years and will miss them. David, Bob, and Jim, we send you our sympathy and prayers.
