Edward Orville Williams, 94, passed away peacefully at his home in Sparks, NV on April 19, 2026. Born on October 6,1931 in Arrowwood, Alberta, Canada, Orville moved to Clarkston, WA following the passing of his father when he was just nine years old. There, he met what would be his lifelong friends, Leo “Butch” Butler and Earl Darrah, both of whom preceded him in death.
After graduating high school, Orville went on to serve in the United States Air Force during the Korean war. While in the Air Force he met the love of his life, Doris. They married in 1955 and moved to Pullman, WA where Orville earned his bachelor’s degree at Washington State University. Orville and Doris remained together for more than 70 years.
After earning his degree they moved to Livermore, CA where they raised three children, and Orville embarked on a 30-year career as an electrical engineer at Sandia National Laboratories. Orville earned acclaim for his work at Sandia, being named the organization’s first Distinguished Member of Technical staff.
After his retirement in 1989, Orville and Doris built their own home in Arnold, CA. There, they enjoyed staying active in their church, playing golf, and most of all, enjoying time with their three grandchildren and watching them grow. They moved to Sparks, NV in 2011 to enjoy the remainder of their retirement.
Throughout his life, Orville’s passions included golf, backpacking, fixing or building anything a person can think of, and most of all – family and friends.
Orville is survived by his wife Doris, sons Michael and Neil (Connie), Daughter Alisa, grandson Zachary (Morgan), granddaughter Jennifer, and great grandchildren Nevaeh, Greyson, and Indy. Orville was preceded in death by granddaughter Sarah.
A Celebration of Orville’s Life will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 2:00 pm, at the Spanish Springs Presbyterian Church, 4884 Sparks Blvd #102, Sparks, NV 89436. The family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (https://alzfdn.org/) in lieu of flowers.
